The U S of A sessions - posted 2.48pm 1/12/09
One by one, the US sessions are going up. They're the result of 2 weeks in New York and then Austin, for the South by South West music conference/festival/party. So far, we've dripped fed out some real gems: check out the Champagne Champagne session if you haven't already, it blew us away, probably an all round favorite of the team. Although the new Holly Miranda is pretty damn cool, shot on the streets of Williamsburg, as is the darkly stunning School of Seven Bells session shot outside Austin city centre. With over 20 sessions a day in SXSW, we squeezed them in, working from 9 till late, without a break really - anxious not to miss any of the artists passing through the town. Coming up we have Mr Liff, Alela Diane, a second session from the lovely Saint Vincent - and many, many more. In these cold London days, it's kind of warming to look back at this footage and think whimsically about our US trip - perfect to watch with a cup of tea and a ginger nut. Here are some stills from the trip featuring Little Boots, Graham Coxon, Ebony Bones and more. BCS x

Big Chill - Final Festival Installment - posted 2.03pm 12/8/09
Herefordshire - our final destination of Black Cab summer festival season. In a car packed with equipment for sessions and the whole black cab team, we headed off early on Friday morning. First session of the day was the remarkable Laurel Collective - and we couldn't have asked for more. We were slightly delayed getting camera from the other side of the festival site, so the Laurels took it upon themselves to set up in the cab and practice a number or two. With all the cab doors flung wide open, parked in the middle of the Artist box office, they sung their hearts out and attracted quite a crowd - even Paul, our amazing cabby for the festival, was recording them on his phone..! The sessions continued to role on, each different and each superb. Erik Truffaz, a French contemporary jazz trumpeter, was followed by Noah and the Whale - who, we reckon, have never sounded so good, who preceeded Wildbirds and Peacedrums (who got a whole drum kit in the cab). The day was polished off with a stonking session from Calexico's front man, Joey Burns. Being the gentlemen that he is - he generously opened the floor to his two band members who then performed their own songs, which were a welcome surprise treat to add to the line up. Finishing off at 9 - it was a long, prolific and super fun day. Sessions up today.
